The Eagle has landed | Darker side of the moon!

"One small step for man....."

Or rather, the boy who never grew up! I bought myself (and the boys) a telescope as we have all shown an interest in the sky at night recently. It is great fun and even more so now that I have added an attachment to fix my Canon 1DSII to it. The Meade reflector scope came from Scopes'n'Skies and is a real beauty. It is a wee bit bigger than I thought it was going to be and the tripod that it mounts to weighs a ton but keeps the whole thing as steady as a rock!

This was shot with a Canon 5D by hand holding it up to the telescopes eyepiece (I did not have the camera attachment at this point). Amazing what you can get really, and this is with the smallest optic. Not bad for a first attempt.

So far we have studied the moon, had glimpses of Mars and Venus and the daddy of them all...Jupiter. It was about the size of a pea but we could clearly see the 'eye'. We even impressed a few neighbours that were queueing up for a look-see themselves. I will post some more images when it is not so cold and there are clearer skies!

It has been a little while since I have posted any studio portraits so here are a few from some recent sessions.

Childrens portrait photography in Hertfordshire | Boys and their boats

Take several sheets of paper.
Fold them several times.
Dip them in a little hot wax.
Add in a couple of excited boys in their wellies.
And what do you have....?

A little adventure down by the river!

We had a great morning making and then sailing paper boats down at a little stream near Tewin Bury Farm. Nathan and Jamie were both into sailing their ships, for a while at least. Until they decided it would be even more fun to drop bouncing bombs on them! Or in this instance, rocks!

This is a beautiful little location and I will be shooting some of my portraits here in the future. If this is something that appeals to you then please get in touch with me at Phil Lynch Photographer and book your session.

Baby portraits in Hertfordshire | Samuel Lynch

Here is a quick update of Samuels progress so far with a couple of new studio images. The little wonder is putting on the weight and coming along fine. He is also a pretty good little sleeper as you can tell from the first image. I am a wee bit biased, but he does take a great portrait!

I picked these hats up from a really helpful lady in the States that hand makes them to order. I am getting quite a collection now, specially made for newborn photography. I can't wait to show off a few more so if you are keen to have your own newborn portrait shoot then contact Phil Lynch Photographer right away and book your session.

Wedding photography at Fanhams Hall, Ware | Alana and Paul

Alana and Paul did things a little different by marrying in Vegas! Thus combining the wedding and honeymoon in one, and then having a cool party back in the UK at Hertforshire's own, Fanhams Hall.

The champagne and canapés were flowing as the guests arrived and we took this opportunity to spend twenty minutes or so in the fabulous gardens to shoot a few images. I had great fun working with you both and hope that you enjoy this little sneak peak of a few images from your day. As always...comments are welcome. Thanks guys!

I love to shoot wedding photography at Fanhams Hall!

Wedding photography at Woodland Manor, Bedford | Caroline & Daniel

I have certainly had my share of great looking couples this year, and to keep that trend going we have Caroline and Daniel and their wedding at Woodland Manor in Clapham, Bedford

You can see some great pre-wedding images from this happy couple earlier in my blog, and they have continued to sparkle through to their wedding day. It is hard to believe that the shots with the long grasses were taken right next to a roundabout and a fairly busy road. Just shows what you can get away with, if you know where to look!

Thanks for working with me so hard guys. You were a dream to photograph. Enjoy this little snippet from your big day! I love wedding photography at Woodland Manor.

Notley Abbey weddings | Katie and Duncan

Sorry folks, I am way behind on blogging. It is silly season as far as weddings go but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Katie and Duncan were married at the beautiful Notley Abbey just outside Aylesbury. It is the former home of Laurence Olivier and the gorgeous screen icon, Vivien Leigh. Also home (apparently) to some outrageous 'Hollywood' style parties over the years, with guest lists that included Marilyn Monroe, David Niven, Tony Curtis and the like. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at one of those do's!

Superb weather, a great couple and fantastic light! What more could I ask for. Shooting wedding photography at Notley Abbey was a great experience and one that I hope to repeat soon. Here is a little taster of just a few of the images shot on the day. I hope you like. I love shooting weddings at Notley Abbey.
